MSC & ASC Chain of Custody Certification for Seafood

Our hotel in Singapore is proud to announce that the majority of the seafood served at its restaurants and event venues is independently certified sustainable. In recognition of the hotel’s achievements, Grand Hyatt Singapore was awarded Chain of Custody (CoC) certifications by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) – making it one of the first hotels in Asia to achieve this standard.

 

Consuming over 140,000 tonnes of seafood a year, Singaporeans are one of the largest seafood consumers in Asia. With nearly 90 percent of our oceans being overfished, the MSC and ASC certifications are recognised as the highest standards available for sourcing sustainably caught and responsibly farmed seafood, which is also heavily backed by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), a leading global conservation organisation.

 

Menus at all of the outlets were rewritten to feature sustainable seafood sourced from accredited fisheries and distributors, including those that are under the MSC and ASC. These seafood dishes will be accompanied by the MSC and ASC logos on the menu, to place power into the hands of diners to make informed choices about the food they consume.

 

As an MSC and ASC CoC certified hotel, diners at the hotel’s restaurants in Singapore and event venues Singapore can be assured that non-exploitative fishing and farming methods have been used to procure the seafood products used at the hotel. This achievement reaffirms Grand Hyatt Singapore’s commitment to sustainable seafood practices through the food supply chain and, ultimately, providing environmentally conscious food options for the hotel’s diners.
